Start-up
support program

The Start-up Support Programme is a 12-month accelerated mentorship programme providing business and technical skills in the early stage innovation. The programme is aimed at supporting Local Economic Development focused innovators and start-ups grow and propel their innovations and business forward.

What is Innovation?

Innovation can be defined simply as a “new idea, device, or method”. However, innovation is often also viewed as the application of better solutions that meet new requirements, needs, or existing market needs. The term “innovation” can be defined as something original and more effective.

  • Embark on a Journey of Design Thinking and Concept Validation expertise.
  • Access to workshops tailored to your start-up
  • Develop a robust Business Model Canvas
  • Navigate the business landscape with Business Registration support.
  • Get Prototype Design and Development support
  • Master the art of pitching your idea/business and craft the investor-ready Pitch Deck.
  • Receive wisdom from Industry experts through personalized mentorship.
  • Showcase your innovation and gain recognition through our platforms and networks.
  • Unlock Market Access and Networking Opportunities for your start-up growth.

Who Should Apply?

·      Must be a South African Citizen

·      Must be 18 years or older

·      Must reside in Kwazulu Natal

·      Innovations in early or pre-prototype stage

·    Innovations addressing local economic challenges

·      Must be willing to commit to the program’s training, assignments and mentor sessions

·      People living with Disabilities and Female Innovators are Encouraged

Commitment Fee: A commitment fee of R1000 upon acceptance into the program.
